In the Spring of 1971, Deb and Darrell Satern began to shape their future in the exterior remodeling industry. Offering seamless gutter and downspouts to residential customers, the couple would install by day and sell by night. Hard work ethic and determination would soon prove that it would be necessary to begin hiring additional installers if they were to keep up with the demand. The business continued to steadily grow through the 70’s and the number of employees continued to multiply.

By the late 70’s, Darrell recognized that market trends were leaning toward permanent siding options and made the decision to further expand the business. In 1980, Darrell began roll-forming seamless steel siding.

In the next years to come, Darrell’s vision of offering the highest quality products with first class installation never ceased. Gutters led to siding which led to soffit and fascia cover, windows, doors, custom trim cover and the list goes on. By the late 80’s, the company’s further expansion required more installers as well as additional sales staff.

In 1998, the family owned and operated business entered it’s second generation. Following graduation from Iowa State University, Deb and Darrell’s son, Tate, entered a management role in the family business. Working closely with Darrell, the two recognized that another growing demand in the marketplace was investment grade roofing products. The company further expanded, offering permanent metal roofing to both residential and commercial markets.

In 2013, Deb and Darrell retired from the business. Satern Exteriors is now owned and operated by Tate and Jennifer Satern.

Today, the company’s philosophy that began in 1971 remains the same - offer the best quality products with first class installation. Satern Exteriors currently has nine crews of highly trained installation professionals that each specialize in specific products. Satern Exteriors has been recognized numerous times as one of the top exterior remodeling companies in the country and has been recognized multiple times for installation excellence.
